DIRECTIVE ATEX 94/9/EC
Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX - ATmosphères EXplosives) became effective on 1st July 2003 and mandatory on equipment and systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The Directive relates not only to electrical equipment, but also to mechanical equipment which is capable of causing an explosion through its own potential source of ignition.
The environment (petrolchemical, farmaceutical, cosmetic, painting manufacturing, texture dyeing, paper production, woodworking, etc) where basically power transmission equipment is installed, are covered by the ATEX Directive and therefore, speed reducers and variators are both included with and without motors.
The S.T.M./G.S.M. - ATEX gearboxes and variators are suitable to the design requirements specified in Group II, Category 2, in order to operate in areas with explosion danger of gas “G” and of combustive dusts “D”.
